THE X-CAST TOURNAMENT PREDICTIONS: Home vs Salvage / The End vs Red Museum

The X-Cast blog team are going to share their daily predictions about the Episode Tournament fixtures coming up, talking about who they think will win (not crucially who *should* win – that’s up to you!).

February 15th/16th

The X-Files (1996) – 20th Century Fox Television

Tony: “HOME – why are we even debating this?”

Sarah: “HOME.”

Baz: “SAL…no can’t even do it. HOME is a masterpiece and will win by 98% because there’ll be one person for finds it too disturbing…”

Carl: “HOME, but by a slightly smaller margin than Baz reckons. Possibly due to voters pressing the wrong button by accident.”

Michael: “Poor SALVAGE, but no one was going to win against HOME.”

Paige: “I’d say poor Salvage too, but Salvage was poor. HOME sweet Home.”

Baz: “Yeah, I couldn’t see Salvage winning against a much lesser episode. Would only have got to round 2 if it went up against a real dud.”

Tony: “THE END – mythos should avoid drinking the culty kool aid here.”

Michael: “THE END, I LOVE the end and it’s a prologue to the movie so it’s pretty important. Granted I also love RED MUSEUM, but THE END will win here.”

Paige: “THE END. The … end.”

Baz: “THE END is quite a good episode. It’s got the return of the CSM, the burning down of the X-Files office and the mystery of Gibson Praise. I think it will win. RED MUSEUM is an interesting quasi-mythology story but a little lacklustre. I can’t see it winning enough votes to win.”

Michael: “The return of CSM alone will help it win. Plus Gibson is pretty important to the overall mythology so he’s a must.”

Baz: “A wasted character but yeah, The End is quite an important episode.”

Michael: “The Season 10 comic uses him super well I thought, but then again that’s no longer canon so unless he comes back in S11 you’re right.”

Sarah: “THE END was a great set up for the movie. I love watching them back to back. Red Museum isn’t all that memorable.”

Baz: “See I think they missed a trick with The End and The Beginning in season six. I think they jarr with the events of the movie. The only thing The End does is close down the X Files. I think it’s a great episode but despite some major mythology stuff in season five there is very little crossover with Fight The Future.”

Carl: “I’d imagine THE END will prevail fairly comfortably here.”
